Meet
the newest member of the DH&A Team... |
"Newest" does not mean "new." Glenn R. Ayres officially joined Doud Hausner & Associates in June of 2005, and is a
partner in the firm. Many of our clients and friends
have had the opportunity to meet Glenn over the past year-plus. For those
of you who have not yet met him in person, this will serve as a brief
introduction. Glenn is a long-time and well-respected friend and we were
delighted by his interest in becoming part of our professional team. His
twenty-year career in family business consulting evolved from a stint as
an in-law executive in a family business and a distinguished career as a
trust and estate attorney in the Twin Cities.

Over the last 20 plus years of
recruiting, we have reviewed hundreds of job descriptions from a wide
variety of companies and for a wide variety of positions. The vast
majority of these job descriptions have the same format. They list the
responsibilities, duties and experience required. It is a one size fi ts
all, generic job description. Traditional job descriptions are useful
documents that meet legal requirements, but they should not be used for
hiring purposes.

Essential Considerations When Forming A Partnership.... |
by Ernest A. Doud, Managing Partner, Doud Hausner &
Associates |
If you are in a business with
one or more other owners then you are in a partnership regardless of the
legal form of entity you have selected. Whether you are contemplating
such a relationship or are in the middle of one, these thoughts can help.
Not long ago I was approached by a friend of many years
and asked a favor. His son had gone into business with another
individual, and the relationship wasn't working very well. My friend
asked, "Would you mind spending a little time with John (not his real
name) and give him what advice you can? This situation is not going to
get better all by itself."

Last year was a time of exciting
change at Doud Hausner. We welcomed two new partners (Ivy Gordon and
Glenn Ayres), said good-bye to a partner, changed the firm's name back to
what it was when we started in 1991 and adopted a new logo. While we were
at it, we changed our web address (we are how located at http://www.doudhausner.net) and undertook a major redesign of our web site.
If you haven't visited us on
line for while, there is no time like the present. Take a few minutes to
log on and see:
- The new look and logo.
- Professional biographies of our newest
partners.
- An updated and expanded library section
of articles.
And while you are there, take
our FAMILY BUSINESS QUIZ. It will take but a few
minutes of your time and we will e-mail you feedback about your answers.
We've received very positive
comments on the new site - the design, the ease of navigation and the
content. To give credit where credit is due, our thanks to John Kuster of TerraSage
Technology Partners, LLC for his fine design work and continuing support. |
