Barry Graff is an organizational consultant and the founder of Family/Business Systems based in San Diego. Barry and the partners of Doud Hausner & Associates work collaboratively on numerous client engagements. He uses his expertise to consult with family-owned and closely held businesses in succession planning, organizational and leadership development, communication and conflict resolution. This includes consultation with the wide range of professional advisors who assist these businesses.
Leadership development work has included assessment, training and coaching of upper level and mid level managers, focusing on individual, as well as team development. Training ranges from understanding and using one’s own style effectively, to skill training in areas such as performance management, meeting leadership, and development of strategy.
An important focus of his consulting engagement is the integration of management succession, ownership succession, and estate planning with family relationship building and communication. He has also presented seminars on these topics to attorneys, CPA’s financial planners, life underwriters and closely held business members.
Barry is a frequent speaker at university-based family business forums, as well as regional and national industry groups. Topics include “Business Planning”, “Family Meetings”, “Leadership Development”, “Team Building”, and “Communication and Conflict Resolution”.
A Licensed Psychologist, Barry is a member of both the American Psychological Association and the Family Firm Institute. He is also an active member of the Family Business Forums at the University of San Diego, and Cal State Fullerton. He received his Ph.D. in psychology from Michigan State University, and has considerable post-graduate training in consulting with families and family-owned businesses.
